Two Minute Foot Massage Claims To Ensure A Good Night’s Sleep

There’s nothing worse than a bad night’s sleep. Michele Stevens, a reflexologist, claims that she knows how to make you sleep like a baby. The secret? A foot massage that takes around two minutes to complete.

In case you’re unsure, reflexology is a type of massage that involves putting pressure on certain parts of the hands, feet, or head. There are more than 7,000 nerve endings in our feet. These, Stevens says, are linked to our organs. As we go about our business each day, our feet get worn out. Shoes pinch. Feet swell. This is especially true for people who have to walk or stand a lot. Because the nerve endings are linked to organs, it can make the rest of your body hurt.

What can you do? Stevens suggests taking a couple of minutes to do these five massage techniques. First, hold your big toe with your thumb and finger. Put pressure on the top for a bit, and then begin adding pressure in a circular motion. This affects the pineal gland, which regulates melatonin. This hormone plays a huge role in regulating your sleep.

To help clear your mind and reduce stress, press your thumb against the base of your big toe and work your way to the top and then back down. Do this three times.

Next, use your thumb to press from the ball of the foot to each toe. This is supposed to increase the oxygen levels throughout your body. To finish up, press your thumb into the center of your foot in a gentle circular motion.
